Kaohsiung was originally a bamboo forest inhabited by the Makau dynasty (Makatau). The people call it Takau. During the era of the Qing dynasty, it was called the “hit dog.” During the Japanese occupation period, a dog-raising office was established on Cijin Street. Tainan Department’s dog-branch office moved to the bow of the whistle. In 1920 (Dazheng 9th year), Kaohsiung State was established. Japanese people are called “Kaohsiung” because of TAKAU sound. In 1924 (Dazheng 13th year), Kaohsiung “city” was changed to Kaohsiung Design. At the beginning of the city, the 1979 yuan was converted into the second municipality in Taiwan.
With a total area of 2,952 square kilometers and a total of 38 administrative districts, each district has its diverse landforms, rich cultural resources, and unique agricultural and fishery products, demonstrating a proud and diverse urban temperament.
